Who We Are
SandPile Services started with just an operations guy with a background in water resource management and a sand engineer with a background in frac and completions. Who knew that a 2018 wet sand project would lead to the vision of SandPile Services? You see, traditionally frac operations only used dry sand that was railed down from Wisconsin. That is a long way from Texas… and we paid for it. Understanding the sand supply chain led to finding ways to improve economics which eventually eliminated the rail and terminals from the picture. Local frac sand mines began to pop up in each basin and after many data points of production comparisons and lengthy debates, the industry learned that local sand worked just fine with no impact to production but instead, improved the invested rate of return. The oil & gas industry has really embraced in-basin sand over the past years. The next evolution came in 2018 when we experimented with alleviating the drying process at the mine and only used their washed piles for frac’s sand supply at the wellsite.
This would be where our wet sand experience starts, the very beginning. Fast forward to today’s wet sand success… seems like second nature to us now, but we reflect on the past years of frustrations and enhancements, troubleshooting and improvements, and challenges and solutions. Key word: SOLUTIONS.

We have crawled on many pieces of equipment at all hours of the night and at the most inconvenient times to thoroughly understand and solve wet sand troubles. Heck, we introduced a water filter pod system to remedy an issue in the sand industry. As few people have witnessed a piece of this true sand revolution, SandPile has been involved from the very beginning, by finding ways to continue to innovate and improve the frac sand process. It has been a fun job from the start. It keeps us sharp and tinkering to find ways to continually streamline the sand process. You won’t meet anyone more passionate about bringing sand to your wellsite. We are the SandPile team, a group of wet sand experts who absolutely love helping the industry from the mine to the wellhead. It’s what we breathe.

Anna Omsberg, CEO
Anna Omsberg, CEO
Anna earned her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from Montana State University in 2006. Since then, she has compiled more than 17 years of oil and gas upstream experience, providing innovative technical solutions to improve Estimated Ultimate Recovery rates within basins across North America. Her career includes high-level positions in engineering, sales, management, supply chain, and operations in frac, cement, and completion tools. In a previous role, she worked for an E&P company to transition their frac fleets from dry sand operations to wet sand.
Brian Blackburn, COO
Brian Blackburn, COO
Brian is a proven water resources manager and sand coordinator with 15 years of experience in water transfer, sand sourcing, and logistics. He helped lead the charge to pivot from dry sand operations to wet sand in the Permian Basin. This includes redesigning and testing equipment modifications to accommodate the “stickiness” of damp sand and eventually transitioning away from the traditional box and belt systems to stacking wet sand into a pile on location.
